Spring Fishing
Come to the walleye capital of the world and enjoy some exceptional fishing once the winter ice is off the river. Our lodge is a sportsman’s paradise, located directly in front of the gap of the Rainy River—where the best fishing spots can be found. Enjoy the nice spring weather as you cast your reel in search of post-spawn walleyes, northern pike, and small mouth bass which are all active during this season. Sturgeon fishing is at its best in the spring so try your hand at catching one of these giant river monsters.
Summer Fishing
Summer fishing on Lake of the Woods is second to none. From early May through early October – action happens in a variety of ways. From fishing the reefs to down rigging – BIG walleyes can be found. We offer guided charter trips with our 27-foot Sportscrafts. Charter trips include a guided experience with one of our experienced Coast Guard Licensed Captains. Wigwam provides the poles, tackle, bait, fish cleaning and fish packaging. Each vessel is set up with all the equipment you could possibly need to embark upon your great fishing adventure! Our high-tech, heavy-duty fiberglass boats are equipped with electronics, downriggers, and hook and line setups—all to help you snag that trophy fish. Our expert guides know where to find the best catches, and while we are here to cater to your every need, you just can’t go wrong.
fall Fishing
Fall at Wigwam Resort is the ideal season for the outdoorsman! Just as the temperatures begin to drop and the good fishing begins to decline in most other parts of the country, the Lake of the Woods is teeming with staggering numbers of Walleye, Sauger and Sturgeon. Combine your interests during this relaxed season on the lake and take the opportunity to have a great hunting and fishing adventure.
“Fantastic experience with this resort. I’ve stayed at a few others in the area and this one stood out. The owners are tremendous and do a wonderful job to make sure they answer questions and help with anything the guests need. The bar and restaurant are very nice and the rooms are serviceable. If I’m nitpicking I’d let everyone know that stays on the first floor of the lodge that you can hear everything around you. The sound carries through the walls. But aside from that I have no complaints. I will definitely be back.”

DAILY LAUNCH TRIPS

  • We prefer your pets stay at home. If they must come along, we require pets to be leashed at all times while on resort property and that guests clean up after them. There is an additional $25 pet fee/per dog/ per day. MAX of 2 animals per cabin. NO PETS IN THE LODGE.

Open Water Fishing FAQs

Yes! Wigwam Resort has 3 – 27ft Sportcraft that can fish up to 6 people driven by US Coast Guard licensed captains.
On our summer charter fishing trips, we provide all the rods, reels, bait and tackle.
When you are fishing in our charter boat fish cleaning is included.
No- charter can be booked for any group size, and smaller parties may combined with other guests on the same boat.
Wigwam Resort does not rent boats, but Xcape Rentals has boat rentals in our area.
We do not sell fishing licenses, Log Cabin and Border Bait are within 1 mile of the resort and sell fishing licenses, bait, gas, propane and a convenience store.
