Fishing Report: 7-16

Greetings Fishermen!

We’ve had some incredibly warm days here on Lake of the Woods! Today, projected temperatures are supposed to hit in the 90’s! We asked for summer, and by golly, we got it!

Fishing has slowed just a bit due to the fish fly hatch that we had recently, but people are still catching quite a few fish! Today the fields North of Zipple Bay in 7 feet of water were producing a lot of fish. Also the Twin Islands in the sand were giving up the fish. Leeches and crawlers on spinners seems to be the ticket, and blue and purple I’ve head have been the hot colors. Also, in a bit deeper water over the mud in front of Pine Island, around 30-32′, has been doing pretty well.

We still have some awesome specials going through the summer! Lodging rates have been reduced to just $28.50 per person, and kids 12 and under always stay FREE! This is prime family vacation time, with the weather beautiful, and the fishing biting, so give us a call today! We would love to show you our beautiful lake, and all that it offers!

This past winter we had a “slow” year for fishing walleye, but in hindsight, with all of the numbers coming in, it wasn’t as bad as it seemed. Here is an article from the Grand Forks Herald with a few answers from our local DNR experts. Check it out!
